News from the 2-D/3-D Departments
Students at Arts Academy in the Woods recently engaged in a cross-curricular art project, combining drawing, photography, and dance. 2D Art students have been doing figure drawing from live models, dance students have been posing, and photography students have been taking pictures of the project. The students all seemed to really enjoy combining forces on the project.
You can see photos of the students working on this project at the 2D Art blog. Please use link below to see the blog.

This week, our Geometry Essentials classes will take on a scavenger hunt assignment to find polygons (geometric figures composed of straight lines, made up of three or more sides) in the real-world. Students have the option of taking digital photos of the real-world polygons or cutting them out of magazines or newspaper to compose a hard-copy book or digital version of the scavenger hunt. A simple example of a polygon is a stop sign, which is an octagon, or a picture frame, which is a quadrilateral. However, a tougher one is a heptagon, or 7-sided figure. (Can you think of an example of this?) Look around you, polygons are all over!
Thank you,
Ms. Brodacki and Mrs. Szopjak
